Didgeridoo Down Under Show

“One of the best shows that I have had in my 35 years as a children’s librarian!” – JoAnne Powell, Peabody Institute Library of Danvers, MA

The DDU Show is an energetic fusion of Australian music, culture, puppetry, comedy, character building, storytelling and audience movement / participation. The didgeridoo has been played by Aboriginal Australians for at least 1,500 years, and it’s known for its otherworldly sound. But DDU is much more than music. It’s interactive, educational, motivational and super fun – perfect for kids and families!

Our 2024 library show “Adventure Down Under” is perfect for the CSLP theme … Join us on an epic adventure to the Land Down Under, where we’ll hear otherworldly sounds from the didgeridoo, we’ll explore the Great Barrier Reef and the Outback, we’ll learn about amazing creatures like kangaroo and koalas … and much more! The DDU Show is an energetic fusion of Australian music, culture, comedy, character building, storytelling and audience movement / participation. It’s interactive, educational, motivational and super fun for all ages!

DDU also aligns with the 2024 iRead theme “Read, Renew, Repeat”. We’ve been promoting reading and environmentalism in our library shows for almost two decades, so it’s a natural fit!

Aussie Funk Jam Workshop

”I usually don’t stay in for the whole program, but I couldn’t leave today. I was spellbound!” – Alice Grace, Youth Librarian, Orange County South Trail Library, FL

In this interactive and hands-on program. we teach how to play the didgeridoo, including vocalizing, creating simple rhythms and more, with our beginner instruments (clean & sanitized, of course). Participants will be mesmerized, inspired and motivated as they enjoy a unique multicultural music experience! It’s ideal for teens and tweens, but OK for ages 8 and up.

Music & More from Down Under and Beyond
Music & More takes the audience on a musical journey to Australia and other distant places, as the performer plays an assortment of exotic didgeridoos and worldly percussion instruments … mixed with colorful talking points and humor. Our performers play a modern style, mixing fast-paced rhythms with relaxing soundscapes and organic sound effects. This program is best for adults, but it’s OK for kids with parental accompaniment.
